Re:Baltica and Toneboard receive 50 000 from Google to develop a new tool

Baltic Center for Investigative Journalism Re:Baltica and artificial intelligence and automated speech analytics start-up Toneboard have received the Google Digital News Initiative (DNI) Innovation Fund support to create a fact-checking platform.

Our idea is to create a platform 4facts.org where facts can be checked not only by professionals, but also anyone from the crowd. With that we aim to achieve that facts are checked in mass, including regions with small languages, like Latvia and Estonia.

Google will support us with 50 000 euro. Projects in Round 3 of the DNI Innovation Fund will have received 21 million euros collectively.

Read more about the tool here. If you want to take part in our project, you can leave your e-mail address on the platform’s website 4facts.org to get notified when we launch and join our team of volunteers that will start a new fight against fake news.

The Digital News Initiative is a partnership between Google and publishers in Europe to support high-quality journalism through technology and innovation.
